Lynn Susser’s Story
Immigration is personal to Lynn and her family. Her four grandparents emigrated from Eastern Europe to the United States and Canada in the early 1900’s while many of their family members perished during WWII. Her American mother and Canadian father brought her to the United States from Canada as a small child. Her husband came to the U.S. as a foreign student after his own parents survived WWII in Europe and were among the original Israeli settlers in 1950. Lynn has had the privilege of traveling extensively and understands the varied cultural backgrounds of her clients.
After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business in 1981, Lynn spent eight years as the Merchandise Manager for a major U.S. manufacturer. During that time, she supervised the design and sales of $40 million worth of children’s sleepwear annually. In the same year that the oldest of her three sons started first grade, she started law school and received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphrey’s School of Law in 1994. That same summer she met Greg Siskind who had just launched visalaw.com, one of only 5 law firm websites and the first immigration firm on the worldwide web, and he convinced her that the internet was a viable tool for marketing a law practice. In those early days, the firm represented primarily engineers, scientists, and academics as they were the only ones accessing the internet and communicating by email.
As they say, the rest is history…together they founded the law firm of Siskind Susser in 1994. Lynn has spent her 20+ year career in the immigration field, specializing in business immigration though handling family and removal cases when necessary. As the firm’s managing partner, Lynn supervises a wide variety of casework ranging from employment-based visa work and family immigration matters to political asylum and naturalization. By focusing strictly on immigration matters, she and her staff have developed an excellent reputation and working relationship with the local offices of USCIS, CBP, and ICE. Her own clients include multi-national corporations, nurse-staffing agencies, IT companies, construction related businesses, and several manufacturers.
Lynn was named Volunteer of the Year by the Memphis Community Legal Center and Jewish Family Services. She was one of 65 women honored by Harvard Law School in their inaugural International Women’s Day Portrait Exhibition. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Memphis Bar Association and the Association for Women Attorneys. Lynn served as Chair of the MidSouth Chapter of AILA and on the AILA Board of Governors. She is currently a member of the AILA National CBP Liaison Committee and the AILA Liaison to the Memphis USCIS District office. Lynn is named in Best Lawyers in America for Immigration Law and Who’s Who for Corporate Immigration and she has an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell.
